ALTON - our rating is
Alton supply only wood framed greenhouses and lean-tos, normally made from Western Red Cedar. If you are in the market for a wood framed greenhouse then Alton is one of the manufacturers that we recommend you seriously consider - they specialise in this type of greenhouse. Alton have been manufacturing greenhouses since 1921 so they have a history going back many years. This will ensure that their products are good quality and they provide greenhouses reliably and at reasonable prices.

Alton supply their greenhouses in kit form which is easy to erect. Most of the kits are supplied in pre-glazed sections making it easier to construct the greenhouse at home. All greenhouses come with a 10 year guarantee and the guarantee does not require you to treat the wood each year. This is a very reassuring guarantee! What is also very reassuring is that many (possibly all) of the greenhouses shown have a link to the assembly instructions. Alton are being very up front and helpful on their website, an indication that their products are good.

The smallest model in the range is sized at 1.93m (6' 4") wide by 2.43m (8' 0") long. As with all the Alton greenhouses this comes with full length glass panels (no overlaps for algae to accumulate in). The largest greenhouse in their range is 3.04m (10' 0") wide by 6.27m (20' 7") long - these greenhouses can be extended even longer with extension kits.
