HOUSE PLANTS
The range of house plants for sale was small at this garden centre. They seemed to be
arranged as an after-thought. The quality and prices were good.
AQUATICS AND PETS
There was a combined aquatics and pet centre at Wentworth Garden Centre. They stock a
good range of small pets and birds with lots of accessories and feeds. There was a
reasonable range of marine and tropical fish for sale along with a range of tanks
and fish feeds. OTHER FEATURES
Kids are well-catered for. The swings and slides were excellent and
free to use.
A little further down was the entrance to the children's farm. There was a charge
for this (click the picture on the left to see them). It's well worth a visit and
will keep young children amused for an hour or so.
On site is a small craft centre with four or five shops.
Included is an excellent butchers. To the right is one picture
from the gardens at the Wentworth.
The gardens are well worth a visit. They have been designed
for year round interest. Entrance is free although there is a
box for donations towards the reconstruction costs.
The cafe is clean but basic. It is also very popular with the
locals and has pleasant homely atmosphere. As well as an indoor
seating area it has a pleasant outdoor area, see picture on left.
There were some queues at peak times, up to ten minutes. Main meals
were in the range 4 to 6. Sandwiches and rolls were generally
under 3. Hot potatoes with fillings were 3 to 4. Tea, coffee and
a good range of cakes were also available.
The Wentworth Garden Centre cafe serves
excellent home-cooked food using top quality ingredients. No
fussy, fiddly bits, just plain top quality food. The prices, for
this type of food, are excellent. We can thoroughly recommend
the beef pie and the meat lasagne. Kids meals are also available at 2.50. We thoroughly
recommend this cafe. DISABLED FACILITIES TOILETS CAR PARKING
The car park at the Wentworth Garden Centre is huge, a
reflection of its popularity. Some is on hard ground but some is
on grass.
On foot, there is no problem but if you are a wheelchair user
search out the designated spaces near the entrance. Pushing a
wheelchair from the far end of the car par will be hard work. DIRECTIONS AND CONTACT A map can be found
