The premier gardening information source
The food at the Wellbeck Cafe was about average; perfectly edible but nothing special. Paninis aand
toasties came in at between 4 to 5, sandwiches were 3 to 4. Main meals were 6 to 7. Note that
they only start serving main meals after 12. The cafe itself is attractive, being in a beamed room
in the main section.
A major problem with the cafe is the size of the queues. Just after midday there
was a queue with a wait to be served of about 15 minutes. The queues were caused
simply by a lack of staff behind the counter. This was disappointing and spoiled an
otherwise good cafe. Watching the queue when we tasted our food it was clear that
many people were irritated by the length of the wait.
Admittedly minor, but we did have one other adverse comment. Getting a sandwich
out of the plastic wrap was near impossible! They were sealed up so well that we had
to resort to a knife to get our sandwich uncovered. HOUSE PLANTS
There was a smallish range of houseplants for sale at the Dukeries which looked in
good condition.
The display looked more like an afterthought than a purpose built
display. Prices were about average. INDOOR SALES AREA
The indoor sales area stocked an excellent range of garden
furniture, attractively laid out. Other garden goods, such as feeds and tools were
well stocked. The gift sales area was a bit disappointing. It was
badly lit and the gifts rather randomly displayed. The range of greetings cards was
comprehensive for a garden centre of this size. OTHER FACILITIES
Maidenhead Aquatics provided the aquatics facilities. They are unfailingly good
and this was no exception. This was one of their medium sized outlets and the range
of fish, feed and hardware was top quality. There was a medium sized pet centre
which should cover most people's needs. DISABLED FACILITIES TOILETS CAR PARKING The address is: Our sat nav delivered us about half a mile away from the garden centre.
There is however a sign to Notcutts, The Dukeries on the main road. A map can be found

SUMMARY
This garden centre has lots of plants in good condition. The indoor sales area stocked a
good range of gardening accessories. The cafe disappointed a bit with average food and long
queues.
