Garden Centre Reviews
Monkton elm Garden Centre is one of the largest in the area and it
rightly attracts lots of visitors. It could be described as a large Dobbies type
garden centre but with lots more charm and interest. A great deal of thought has
gone into the design and in our opinion it has paid off.

The layout of the outdoor plants area is very appealing and at the same
time the paths are wide and allow easy access. They have made full use of signs at this
garden centre, and they are needed in this very large area. The range of plants is
very extensive and they all looked in excellent condition. This is backed up by a long
five year hardy plant guarantee. Because the number of plants for sale is so large it is difficult to name one
particular area of specialisation. At the time of our visit though, there was a
commendably high number of ornamental and fruit trees. They also had a large and very
interesting range of New Zealand flax plants for sale.
An information centre outside is not unusual for a garden centre of this size but the
fact that it was manned was unusual.
INDOOR SALES AREA
Immediately we entered Monkton Elm Garden Centre, it was clear that the indoor
sales area was large. But a quick wander round revealed that it was larger than our
initial impression led us to believe. It is attractively laid out in separate areas,
making it an interesting area to wander round. It sells gifts, cards, books,
indoor and outdoor furniture, barbecues plus all the usual gardening accessories.
It's the size of a small department store! CAFE
The cafe serves home made meals which are truly tasty. This is some of
the best food we have tasted at a garden centre cafe for a long time.
There are three separate eating areas: indoor, conservatory and outdoor. The
conservatory area was particularly pleasant. They serve main meals specials daily from
5 to 7 and we thoroughly recommend them. There is a full range of snack meals including hot filled potatoes, paninis
and sandwiches. There are lots more snack meals to choose them and an excellent range of
home baked cakes, coffees and teas. PET CENTRE AQUATICS GARDEN SHEDS / GREENHOUSES WATER FEATURES SPECIALITIES TOILETS CAR PARKING DIRECTIONS AND CONTACT A map can be found
