PLANTS
We visited in the depths of winter on a very windy day but even at that time of year the outdoor plant area was well-kept and tidy. The centre of the outdoor area was planted with pansies which gave it a pleasant appearance.
Instead of just straight paths much of the paved area was formed from curved paths, more attractive than normal.
There was a good range of plants for a garden centre
of this size at this time of year and they were healthy and
well-watered. As the picture on the left shows, there was an
unusually large range of roses for sale. David Austin roses were
also available. There was a good selection of fruit trees.
The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. One member of staff had a horticultural career that spanned 30 years including a time at Kew Gardens.
All the normal gardening necessities were there as well including compost, fencing, canes etc. The range of pots was particularly impressive as were the water garden features.
