Fosseway Garden Centre

(page 2)

HOUSE PLANTS
Small display of house plants Maybe it's coincidence or maybe it's a growing trend but we have noticed that more and more garden centres are stocking less house plants.

At the Fosseway the display of houseplants was minimal. It was attractively arranged, the prices were average and all the plants looked healthy.

INDOOR SALES AREA
Indoor sales area at Fosseway The indoor sales area stocked all the items you would need for your garden. The paths were wide and the area was attractively laid out.

There was an excellent range of high quality oak furniture for sale.

TIMOTHY'S CAFE AT FOSSEWAY GARDEN CENTRE
The cafe was pleasantly laid out with parquet flooring and cottage style wood tables and chairs. There were no queues at the time of our visit and main meals were served to your table.

The food was excellent. The steak pie we ordered certainly could not be bought in any supermarket. The meat was lean and tender, the pastry top was delicious and the veg were cooked to perfection.

Special main meals were around £6 which represents excellent value. There was a full range of filled baked potatoes and other lighter meals. The coffee and tea was also good quality and the snacks and cakes very tasty.

The Fosseway internet site claims that the food is home-cooked and we agree with this entirely from the taste of our meals. We recommend this cafe highly.

DISABLED FACILITIES
Disabled access was good indoors and outdoors. the paths were flat and wide throughout. Wheel chairs were available for no cost.

TOILETS
The toilets were more than adequate for the number of visitors. There were toilets for the disabled and mother and toddler changing facilities.

CAR PARKING
Car parking was fine with generally flat surfaces in all areas

SUMMARY
Fosseway Garden Centre stock a good range of healthy plants, with a three year hardy plant guarantee. They excel in providing a wide range of well-established plants, particularly large architectural specimens. The cafe is attractively laid out and offers excellent, quality food at reasonable prices. We recommend a visit to this garden centre.

SURROUNDING AREA
Moerton-in-Marsh is an interesting Cotswold village which has a street market every Tuesday. There is lots to do and see in the surrounding area.

We visited Batsford Arboretum at the same time as the garden centre. They are a 3 minute drive apart. Batsford puts on a good display at any time of the year. In spring there are lots of magnolias and cherry trees in flower. In summer, the trees are spectacular and in autumn the red and gold colours of the Japanese maples are world-renowned.

Farriers Arms pub in Todenham We visited a few of the local pubs and they will not disappoint. Our top recommendation goes to the Farriers Arms in the nearby village of Todenham only five minutes drive away. Turn left out of Fosseway garden centre, go through the town and you will see a sign for the Farriers Arms where you should turn right for Todenham. The village is a quaint example of Cotswold life. The pub is a Free House serving real ales and a good range of food. There is an outdoor seating area at the rear.
