Garden Centre Reviews
This is a totally independent GardenAction opinion of
Dobbies Garden Centre in Sandyholm, Scotland. Click any
picture to enlarge it.
The outdoor plants area at Sandyholm is almost entirely covered. The
ultimate protection from the Scottish weather! The roof is so high that there is no
feeling of being contained. An excellent idea.
There is also variety in the way the banks of plants are laid out which makes it a
very pleasant area to stroll round.
The plants area is on the large size and it was great to see that there were lots of
very clear overhead signs (click picture on right) to indicate where groups of plants
were located. Within the groups though the plants not in alphabetic order. Paths were
wide and clear allowing easy access to all areas.
The plants were in excellent condition and covered by Dobbies five year hardy plants
guarantee.
The range of plants on offer was large. You'd be unlucky not to find the plant you
are looking for at this garden centre. As well as the more common plants, there were
groupings of some more unusual plants. On the left is a grouping of Mediterranean
plants. Other groupings included Oriental plants. The prices were average for Scotland. See our typical shopping basket below
for some examples.
