Dobbies Garden Centre in the Milngavie area of Scotland. Click any

PLANTS AREA
| Dobbies at Milngavie has a good outdoor plants area. It is laid out in a
much more interesting fashion compared other modern Dobbies. The paths are angled, there
are island displays and even a central water feature (click picture on right to
enlarge). The range of plants is good and they are in tip top condition. The large
overhead signs worked well directing you easily to major plants groups. |

INDOOR SALES AREA

The indoor sales area is vast for a garden centre in this area of the UK. More than
half of it is devoted to non-gardening items such as clothes, furniture, gifts,
vards and books.
For gardeners though it does stock a good range of tools, plant feeds, weed killers
and similar items. |

There was a large food hall on site which offered local delicacies and also had a
butchers shop and cheese counter.
CAFE
| The cafe is very large but plainly laid out. It also lacks any
atmosphere or friendly decor. The main area is simply straight lines of tables and
chars. Unusually for a modern Dobbies, the tables and chairs are made from real wood
rather than plastic.
Main meal specials were priced at £8. Paninis, sandwiches, toasties, salads and other
snack meals were also available as were teas, coffees and cakes. |

We tried the soup and sandwich combo for £4.95 and were pleasantly surprised
at how good it tasted.
PET CENTRE
The pet centre stocked a wide selection of pet accessories and feeds but no live pets.
AQUATICS
There was a large aquatics centre which stocke a good range of live fish, accessories and
fish feeds.
GARDEN SHEDS / GREENHOUSES
A good range is stocked on site.
WATER FEATURES
There was a good range of water features dotted rounf the garden centre.
SPECIALITIES
A large range of non-gardening stock.
TOILETS
Excellent, clean and functional.
CAR PARKING
A large car park immediately adjacent to the entrance. It was on flat and level ground.

SUMMARY
A modern store with a larger than normal emphasis on items for the home rather than the
garden centre. That said, the range of gardening items was also extensive. The cafe was
large but disappointed because of a total lack of atmosphere. The food was average.
