HOUSE PLANTS
House plants must be going out of fashion! In common with many
garden centres we have visited recently, the display of houseplants
at Burston was small. Having said that the prices were reasonable
and the plants looked in good condition. INDOOR SALES AREA
The indoor sales area is pleasantly designed and laid out. There
is a full range of all the gardening accessories you might need
as well cards, gifts and books. The range of indoor furniture
was very comprehensive.
If barbecues are what you are looking for, then Burston
Garden Centre is sure to have the one you want. The aisles
were wide and flat, no problems for wheelchair users.
AQUATICS CENTRE
The aquatics centre is called Hertfordshire Fisheries but it
is owned by Burston garden Centre. The range of fish was
excellent as was the range of accessories. Feeds, tanks, plants,
pumps etc., all were fully covered. The range of water features,
was the best we have seen at a garden centre so far. Well worth
a visit. The pictures below don't do the range justice!
CAFE AT BURSTON GARDEN CENTRE
Our comments about the cafe food at Burston are limited to the
the small snack we had. Time prevented us from sampling more of the
food. The cafe itself is inside, and pleasantly decorated. The
service is quick and pleasant. The prices are on the cheap side. We sampled a cup of coffee (excellent) and a Cornish pasty which
was atrocious. Minimal filling and very soggy pastry. DISABLED FACILITIES TOILETS CAR PARKING DIRECTIONS AND CONTACT A map can be found
HERE SUMMARY COMMENTS
Burston Garden Centre, St Albans
(page 2)
The Garden Centre has clearly been designed with wheelchair access in
mind. Wheelchair users are well-catered for with free wheelchairs at the
entrance.
The toilets were clean and functional with a separate toilet for
disabled customers.
The car parking area was more than adequate with flat dry surfaces.

The Burston Garden Centre compares well with other garden centres in the
plants, gifts and gardening section. The aquatics centre excels,
especially as far as water features are concerned. Our experience of the
cafe food was poor but it was limited to only one dish.
