HOUSE PLANTS
It was good to see a comprehensive range of house plants at Dobbies, Edinburgh. They
were all healthy plants and the prices were about average.
AQUATICS AND PETS
The pet section stocked a reasonable range of small pets plus lots of pet
accessories. OTHER FEATURES
CAFE
There were no queues at the time of our visit which was at the peak lunch time.
The cafe serves a large range of snacks, cakes, teas and coffees. The range of
salads and the fillings for the baked potatoes was excellent. On offer each day
was a couple of hot meal special in the �6 to �8 price range. For sweet there was a
great selection of lots of different flavoured ice creams.
Hot meals were served to your table. Service was pleasant and prompt. The
prices were about average for a large garden centre which represents good value given the
quality of the food. Overall, this was an attractive, modern cafe serving good food at

HERE Everything for the gardener is here plus more. The aquatics and pet centre
is interesting and Butterfly World will give the kids something to see and do. The cafe is
good value for money and serves quality food in pleasant surroundings. There are lots of
non-gardening shopping areas on site to make this a day out. Overall, well worth a visit. COMMENTS

At Dobbies, Edinburgh there is a dedicated aquatics and pet centre. The aquatics
centre stocks a good range of fish with a good selection of feeds and accessories.
On site are a children's play are and a grassed picnic area with
benches.
Butterfly World is also available to keep the children amused.
The cafe / restaurant was very large for a garden centre and it was packed out when
we visited. It's light, airy and pleasantly laid out. The design is modern and the whole
area is well-kept and clean.
All the areas, both indoors and out, were ideal for wheel chair access. There were excellent
toilet facilities for the disabled. Wheel chairs were available at the entrance for no
charge.
The toilets were clean and more than adequate.
The car park offered more than sufficient car parking and it was on dry level ground.

SUMMARY
Dobbies at Edinburgh is a large modern garden centre which lacks the personal touch
purely because of its size. But it does offer a huge range of healthy plants with an
industry standard five year guarantee.
