Fuchsia Pest and Diseases

Fuchsia Pest and Diseases

Pests and Diseases
Once a fuchsia is established, very few pests and disease attack them. During the early stages of development though, they are prone to a few pests and diseases.

Two key weapons in attacking fuchsia pests and diseases before they attack are cleanliness and moisture. Keep all debris away from the plants, especially from the surface of the compost surrounding the plant. Leaves frequently drop, and they need to be thrown away before they begin to decompose.

Many fuchsia pests thrive in dry conditions - to avoid this, spray the plants with a mist of water as often as possible, especially the underside of the leaves. Click on any of the pests / diseases below for details of how to recognise and treat them.

Message: I have two hanging baskets of fuchsias. I was wondering if I can keep them alive during the winter and have them again for next summer. They are still flowering right now. But soon we will have frost and snow. Where would I store them and would I have to maintain a certain temp. say in the garage. Any advice would be appreciated.

Message: I have a standard fuchsia with a lot of petunias at the bottom of the large pot the standard is in.The standard was in full bloom with abundant leaves and after being in the same spot for some time the fuchsia within a matter of 4 days lost 75% its leaves and flowers.I had no problems with pests and water and fertilize regularly.Plants surrounding are all fine and remain the way they were.Any idea what happened and how to bring this beautiful; standard back?

Message: Thank you, thank you. I have never seen a more complete and helpful web site on plants! I have killed more Fuchsia plants in the past than I care to tell you but have decided to try once again. I'm sure with your excellent instructions I will have much better luck. I think they are such a beautiful flower.
Thanks again.
